Subject: Registration Insert - Public Boating Class at the Vero Beach Power Squadron

Dear Mr. Lombard:

Thank you for speaking with me recently on the noted subject. As I mentioned we, the Vero Beach Power Squadron, are evaluating the feasibility of including an insert in the registration renewal envelopes that are sent out in Indian River County. My original thinking was that these inserts would go to just the vessel owners, as the classes we offer throughout the year are related to boating education.

From our conversation I learned the following. The registration forms sent by mail do not differentiate between vehicles and vessels, there are approximately 5000 envelopes mailed out a month, and the mailing task is done by subcontractor (CDM) who I would need to deal with, once we have approval from your office.

The attached sample is what was distributed in St Lucie County. My intent is to have something similar designed and coordinated with the various agencies (Indian River County Commissioners, the Sheriffs Officer, et al) then printed and handed off for insertion with the registration renewals.

As I mentioned we have a website www.verobeachps.com and a blog spot http://vbps2010.blogspot.com/ and there is a write up on us in the January Vero Beach Magazine (page 179). We hold classes at the VBPS facility 301 Acacia Road just across the Barber Bridge. The course material cost range is from $20 to $50, depending on the course. Qualified member instructors teach our courses.

I look forward to discussing this more. If you have any questions please contact me at 772-933-1173 or by email at scullybob@comcast.net. I would also like to invite you and your staff to a Friday Night Social from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. As always – “You don’t need to own a boat to take a class or be a member.”

Best regards,

Robert Scully
Public Relations Officer
